Where in the World are Stephen and Tori?

I hope you read the title to the tune of “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” Well, let me tell you! Where we are,  not where Carmen is.

Over Labor Day weekend we were in Arizona! My cousin was getting married on Sunday in Scottsdale, so we flew into Phoenix on Thursday night. I was excited to show Stephen my birth-city and -state! Friday we drove around Phx a little before heading up to the Grand Canyon.

This was where I attended kindergarden and 1st grade!

This is where I lived the first 7 years of my life.

Stephen had never seen the Grand Canyon. (I’ve been there a few times.) We got there around 2, had lunch that we had picked up in Flagstaff, then made our way to the head of the Bright Angel Trail. Our goal was the Mile-and-a-half Resthouse. S was ready to go farther, but I was not mentally or physically prepared for that. (I was longing for my hiking boots as it was.) The hike down was beautiful, I don’t think I even broke a sweat. The temperature at the Resthouse? A lovely 76 degrees. Glorious. Early morning or late afternoon is the best time to hike the GC, because you are in shadow most of the way. The hike back up was not quite as easy. Lets just say it’s been a while since my Philmont days. There are some large steps and drops in several places on the trail, and we were amused to discover the next day that Stephen’s shoulder was sore from pulling me up the ones that were to big for my little Tori legs. Who needs a hiking stick when you have a Stephen?

After we got back to the top, we had some of the best ice cream I have ever eaten.

Rather than driving all the way back to Phx that night, we had made plans to crash at my cousin’s house in Flagstaff. Thanks again Nathan and Ashley!

The next day (Saturday now) we took the scenic route back to Phx though Sedona. We made a short jaunt to see Montezuma’s Castle, and finally met up with my family at a friend’s house in Phx!

Sunday was Kristen and Ryan’s wedding at the beautiful Troon North Golf Course.

Yay! Check out my facebook album for pictures of our trip!

Where else besides Arizona are we? Right now we are in Orlando, but a couple days ago S was in Akron meeting with a vendor. It was just for one night, and I actually slept really well all alone in our big bed…not that I don’t usually. Like I said, right now we are in Orlando, but this time next year, who knows where we will be?! One thing we are certain of, it won’t be Orlando. But more on that later.
