House hunting in Charlotte

Just a quick post to update everyone on our home search in Charlotte! We saw about 12 houses today (I guess yesterday, as it is now after midnight EST). There are two we like, each has their pros and cons.

One of the first houses we saw has really nice open floor plan, but the back yard needs to be fenced in and some landscaping done. It also has carpet where we would like wood and no fireplace. The kitchen is huge though. Here’s some pics (Stephen was photographer and I was note-taker, so there ya go).

The other house we liked even better than the first, BUT (and it’s kind of a big but) it is a short sale. We don’t have the luxury of time to wait 6 months for the bank to decided to accept an offer, so our Realtor is doing some research and we’ll have a better idea of how long it would take to close on it tomorrow. That being said, we love the house. The lot is full of mature trees and already fenced in. There is a screened in back patio, a pretty fireplace, and a good sized kitchen. There is even a bonus room with easy access to the attic. The neighborhood is a little older, so the houses are farther apart and the landscaping is well established.

So. That’s what we’ve got so far. We might look at a couple more houses in some of the neighborhoods that we like tomorrow. And we’ll know more about the status of the short sale, too.

One more picture just for fun…
